Jane Woo, Ph.D., R.Psych.

Dr. Woo completed her Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the University of British Columbia. She completed her predoctoral residency at the Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences with a focus on the treatment of anxiety, depression, and severe and persistent mental illness (e.g., schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and borderline personality disorder). Dr. Woo specializes in providing cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to adults with social anxiety disorder, panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), specific phobias, and depression. Dr. Woo also has experience in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder, health anxiety, perfectionism and the psychological aspects of irritable bowel syndrome.

Prior to joining the Vancouver CBT Centre, Dr. Woo worked for several years as a psychologist at Back in Motion Health. At Back in Motion, she provided psychological treatment to adults who were unable to work due to mood and anxiety disorders.

Dr. Woo is committed to providing evidence-based treatment in her clinical work and works collaboratively with clients to help them achieve their treatment goals and lead more fulfilling lives. She sees her role as a psychologist as providing knowledge, guidance and support to clients as they work toward their goals. She works primarily from a cognitive-behavioural perspective but incorporates other evidence-based treatments (e.g., Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing) as appropriate to tailor treatment to each client's unique needs. Her interpersonal style is warm and gentle and she works hard to put clients at ease. She recognizes that reaching out for help can be uncomfortable and intimidating for many people and she strives to provide a safe and respectful space for clients to explore and work through their difficulties.
