Dr. Elizabeth Peters (she/her) is a registered psychologist in British Columbia and provides virtual therapy to individuals across the province. Dr. Peters received her Ph.D. in counselling psychology at The University of Denver in Denver, Colorado and completed a pre-doctoral internship and post-doctoral fellowship at Northwestern University’s Counselling and Psychological Services in Chicago, IL. Prior to joining the Vancouver CBT Centre, Dr. Peters completed a post-doctoral fellowship in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) at the DBT Centre of Vancouver, where she then spent an additional four years providing comprehensive treatment involving individual and group therapy.
Her clinical experience focuses on adults and adolescents struggling with emotional dysregulation, depression, anxiety disorders, adjustment disorders, stress, women’s issues, and interpersonal difficulties/relationship concerns.
Dr. Peters’ therapeutic style is supportive and collaborative. She encourages clients to accept where they are, while striving for positive change in their lives. Her interpersonal style is warm and gentle with room for humour. Based on the specific needs and goals of her clients, she works from a CBT perspective and also incorporates many aspects of DBT and mindfulness into her treatment approach. She encourages exploration and curiosity throughout the therapeutic process while honouring the desire for change with practical, skill-based strategies in session.
Dr. Peters is available for virtual appointments through the Vancouver CBT Centre on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9AM-4PM PT
