Dr. Fitzpatrick is a psychologist providing evidence-based care for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) with adults across British Columbia. Dr. Fitzpatrick sought specialized training in trauma-focused assessment and treatment at Canadian Armed Forces (CFB) Base – Gagetown (New Brunswick) and presently splits her time with the British Columbia Operational Stress Injury Clinic where she provides evidence-based trauma-informed care to Canadian Armed Forces and Royal Canadian Mounted Police members. She works with a variety of comorbid disorders with PTSD, including substance use disorders, depression, and anxiety. Dr. Fitzpatrick welcomes referrals from front-line workers (police, paramedic, fire, military) as well as individuals experiencing trauma within the community. Dr. Fitzpatrick is also available to complete Disability Assessments for Veterans Affairs Canada for CAF and RCMP members.
In addition to her work with trauma, Dr. Fitzpatrick provides mental performance services for athletes aiming to improve their sport performance and/or experiencing mental health concerns tied to sport performance. Dr. Fitzpatrick competed at the U-Sport level for the UBCO Heat and UNB Reds volleyball teams and was named two-time captain and earned a 1st Team All-Canadian Award during her final year of play. After her sport retirement, she sought additional training providing mental performance services to athletes, including management of performance anxiety, visualization, goal setting, mindfulness, developing a growth mindset, enhancing emotion regulation skills for stress management, and building confidence in sport. She has prior experience working with athletes from a variety of sport types (individual- and team-based) and levels (amateur, university, Olympic carded, professional). Dr. Fitzpatrick welcomes referrals from individual athletes or teams looking to improve mental performance or mental health.
Dr. Fitzpatrick believes in fostering a genuine, nonjudgmental, and collaborative environment for therapy. She is committed to evidence-based practice and primarily uses a CBT-based approach, and is formally trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy, a gold-standard evidence-based treatment for trauma. Dr. Fitzpatrick also recognizes the need to integrate other approaches (e.g., Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) to meet client needs. She aims to help facilitate change so that clients can approach their distress and improve quality of life.
Dr. Fitzpatrick currently offers virtual appointments on Tuesday evenings, with greater availability coming September 2026.
